shout out for marshals

The school year is nearly over and we are well under way in our preparations for the 10K race on 24th September but we still need your help. 

Are you available to volunteer on the day.  To ensure that the day is a success we need marshals to highlight the route and cheer our runners on.

It is not a difficult job - in fact it is a lot of fun.  If you can support us please email us with your contact details (email and mobile number) at info@thehighway10k.com

We will be in contact nearer the day with instructions and you will be given all the support you need - a sector marshal on the day, full instructions, even breakfast!

Our runners love the support they get from our marshals so please volunteer today.

support one of our school mums

This is Paula Davis, a 38 year old mum to four children at our school and a regular runner.  Many of you may know her from Orpington Road Runners.  

In December 2015 she had what she thought was a running injury in her left thigh and then in June 2016 it was diagnosed as a stage 4 cancer of unknown primary. 

She has been told by different oncologists that immunotherapy has been showing fantastic results against this type of cancer but that the treatment is not available on the NHS.  To go private will cost around £103,000 a year.  Everyone that knows Paula is understandably saddened by this news and doing what we can to help raise funds to support her treatment. 

If you would like to support her please see her Go Fund Me page.  Every penny donated, no matter how small, will help give Paula the chance to see her children grow up.  And hopefully one day we will see her running our 10K again.

We have set the date for our 2017 race

2017 will be our 5th annual race and we are all very excited and have started planning already.

So, no excuse to miss out, plenty of time to train and why not find some friends and challenge them too.
